You Are Invited

Greetings, all! I would like to invite you to a book event I will be hosting here in Riverside on September 14, at 2:00 in the afternoon. It will be held at the Barnes & Noble bookstore near the Tyler Galleria, and I would love to meet you.

I enjoy book events because they are opportunities to make new friends and meet fellow book lovers. I also find it such a pleasure to meet the people behind the names that I see in my blog comments, my website Guestbook, the Readers' Lounge and in emails. I have had the great fortune to meet readers in other countries. In Germany I was thrilled to meet many of the ladies from my Reader's Lounge at the Frankfurt Book fair. What a pleasure to put faces to the personalities I had come to know. In Argentina and Chile I was thrilled to meet people with whom I had corresponded, to shake their hands and exchange a few words. In Santiago I was moved by how kind everyone was, and that so many people traveled a great distance to come and say hello. I spent a few exciting days in Mexico and signed many books at the Guadalajara Book Fair, making more new friends.

These are always fun occasions in which to share opinions, some laughs, schmooze about books and have our pictures taken. Plus, I am always impressed by the questions readers have for me about my books. It keeps me on my toes as I never know what will come up! So if you live in Southern California, or plan to be visiting the area around that date, please drop in, I would love to see you!

too bad that's like 18 weeks too late for me ... :(
but i am sure you'll have a B.L.A.S.T with your readers there. enjoy!

Hi Anto! I was in Chile six years ago. I was there for a week, attending the Santiago Book Fair, plus making appearances at book stores, with interviews on radio and TV. It was very exciting, I must tell you! I have been invited back several times, but unfortunately my time is limited. I will certainly let you know when I go back to Chile.

Enjoy New York. It's my favorite city!

Dear Barbara,
I would have loved to meet you and listen to you talking about your new novel!!!
Unfortunately, Nuremberg in Germany is a little bit to far away from California ;)
But do you have any plans to come to Germany sometime for a book event???
I'd love to go there,

Hello Sino :)

I am frequently asked to go to Germany (and to other places) but because my time is limited I have to pick and choose. But you can be sure that as soon as plans to visit Germany come up, I will let you know!

thank you for answering my question! I can image that you are quite busy browsing the globe to meet with your fans all over the world! So, I just have to wait ;)
And I guess researching for your books and writing them are pretty time consuming, too. So I'm glad that you still take the time to post here!!!

Hi ya Barbara,
Its me Darla (lovingsoul) , its ok if you dont remember me...you have alot of people you talk to..no probs. But I wanted to ask when will you be in Ohio? Ca is to far for me to travel. I would love to be there to meet you tho. I hope you have a wonderful time and much success on your day.I am very excited about your new book. Cant wait to get it and read it! Oh and did want to ask..If I can copy your book cover so I can put it up on my myspace so everyone knows you have a new book coming out. I know you said it was ok before for me to do this with your other books but I feel better if I asked first again. I always ask before doing. eeek cant wait to read your new book.

Nice to hear from you again. Alas, I have no plans to visit Ohio soon, but you can sure that when I do, you will be the first to know. As for putting my book cover on your myspace page, I am flattered that you want to do it, and certainly you have my permission.

Thank you Barbara...will be putting the book cover on tonight. Cant wait to get it. Again good luck on your day. My friend Mimi just wrote her first book and she had one of those events...she said she was scared at first..but then everything went so smoothly. Ill bet you have dominated that part about getting nervous about these events. I am sure you had many of them. If you ever come to Ohio ya bet ya Ill be there. My daughter loves writing stories. She is quite good...her dream is to become an author too. Good luck on your day hun.
